They especially take pleasure in raiding the worlds of Akeldama System, the demesne of their erstwhile brethren, the Blood Vultures. Since that dark day, for the last four millennia this vicious and brutal Chaos Warband has struck out from their dark home world and launched numerous bloody attacks against neighbouring Imperial star systems. Led by the Blood Commander (Captain) of the 3 rd Company, they turned upon their own brothers. But a hidden flaw in their gene-seed nearly saw the Blood Vultures undone, as they were prone to being easily corrupted by the insidious powers of Chaos. Relentless and savage, the Blood Vultures have garnered a reputation as a merciless and savage Chapter. They were once Astartes of the Blood Vultures - a brutal and unforgiving Chapter created during the mysterious 13 th Founding (the so-called 'Dark Founding') - from the lineage of the angelic Primarch Sanguinius. The Dark Vultures, or ' Tenebris Vulturis', are a formidable Chaos Warband of ill-repute. After the mutiny of the Order of the Crow, and the company escaped into the Warp, the powers of Chaos changed them all to Chaos Space Marines, and their sole mission was to destroy their loyalist brothers. And even when Archalus reprimanded Daedelus for disregarding orders, a strange voice whispered into the ear of the Knight Captain, telling him that he would have his day. Daedelus, the Warband's Chaos Lord, fell to the Ruinous Powers and turned traitor against his Chapter Master, Archalus, after constant frustrations over the Highlord's sympathy for the mortal civilian life of the Imperium. The Crows Children are a notorious Chaos Warband made up of Heretic Astartes formed from the renegade Order of the Crow from the Loyalist Penitent Knights Chapter.

Taking the survivors, the Crimson Thunderers now set out across the galaxy to get revenge on the ungrateful Imperium, spilling their blood for the Blood God. The rage they felt at that action drove the survivors into madness, eventually falling under the loyalty of the Khorne, who empowered these new followers to slaughter most of the World Eaters. During the Gothic War, the entire Chapter provided aid near the end of the war, but were betrayed when Imperial Forces abandoned them when a massive World Eaters warband attack the planet Oran. The Crimson Thunderers suffered many problems over the centuries, with a large portion of their forces falling to the Red Thirst and Black Rage, following the destruction of their homeworld Ion Delta near the end of the 40th Millennium. They were once a loyalist Chapter descended from the noble Blood Angels during the 23rd 'Sentinel' Founding. The Crimson Thunderers is a Chaos Warband dedicated to the Chaos God, Khorne. Declaring himself the rightful Lord Commander of the Emperor's Children, he renamed his followers the 'Angels of Succession', and has continued to wage the Long War against the followers of the false 'Corpse God', all while attempting to have his former legion rise from the ashes like the mythical phoenix. Realising their fate didn't have to be fixed, their commander declared that he would stem the tide of hedonism and debauchery and restore what remained of the Third Legion to their former glory. Following the end of the Horus Heresy and their eventual exile into the hellish realm of the Eye of Terror, the former Emperor's Children fought a desperate battle for survival against their rivals from the other Traitor Legions, all while desperately trying to maintain their honour and dignity as they slipped deeper and deeper into madness and corruption by the Pleasure God Slaanesh. In another age they hailed from the Fifteenth Company of the fallen Emperor's Children Traitor Legion. The Angels of Succession are a notorious Slaaneshii Chaos Warband that has plagued the galaxy for over ten millennia.
